Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Turnip Games, LLC (“Turnip Games,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with Kestrello, including kestrello.com, its notation studio, playback tools, learning pages, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Kestrello is designed as a local-first application. The current Service does not require a Kestrello account and does not upload your score library to Turnip Games for cloud storage.

Scores and project data

Scores, instrument selections, notation, titles, composer names, copyright fields, and related project data are stored in your browser’s local storage unless you choose to import or export a file. Turnip Games does not ordinarily receive that locally stored content.

Preferences and cached assets

The Service stores interface theme choices, playback settings, the active project, and the local project library. A service worker and browser Cache Storage may retain application files, SoundFonts, orchestral samples, and patch definitions to improve performance and support limited offline behavior.

Technical request information

When your browser requests a page or asset, our hosting and delivery providers may process standard network information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, requested URL, referring page, timestamps, response status, and security or diagnostic events. We may receive or review limited logs when needed to operate, secure, or troubleshoot the Service.

Communications

If you email us, we receive the address, message, attachments, and other information you choose to provide.

We use information to deliver and maintain the Service, preserve local preferences, load and cache playback resources, respond to messages, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, protect the Service, comply with law, and establish or defend legal rights.

We do not currently use advertising cookies, behavioral advertising, or third-party analytics on Kestrello. We do not sell personal information. We do not use your locally stored scores to train artificial-intelligence models.

Kestrello uses local storage, Cache Storage, and a service worker because they are necessary for project persistence, preferences, faster playback, and offline-resilient behavior. These technologies are not used by Turnip Games to follow you across unrelated websites.

You can delete projects from within Kestrello and can clear local storage, cached files, and service-worker data through your browser settings. Clearing site data may permanently delete scores and settings that have not been exported. You can also clear downloaded orchestral samples from Kestrello’s settings.

Your browser may contact third parties directly to provide features and media. Those providers receive standard request information and handle it under their own policies:

• Site hosting and delivery infrastructure, including Cloudflare.
• GitHub for pinned VSCO 2 CE samples and the FluidR3Mono SoundFont.
• jsDelivr for pinned SpessaSynth playback modules.
• Unsplash and PickPik for photographs displayed on public pages.
• Institutional archives and other sites that you choose to open from history-page citations.

Turnip Games does not control third-party privacy practices. External links and resources are governed by the provider’s terms and policies.

We may disclose information to vendors that operate or secure the Service, when required by law or valid legal process, to protect users or rights, in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the Service, or with your direction or consent. Vendors may use information only for the services they provide to us, subject to their agreements and applicable law.

Locally stored scores and caches remain on your device until you or your browser removes them. Communications are retained as reasonably needed to respond and maintain business records. Technical logs are retained according to operational, security, legal, and provider requirements, then deleted or de-identified when no longer reasonably needed.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No browser storage, transmission, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure. Export important projects and protect access to your device and browser profile.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information we control, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Because most Kestrello project data stays on your device, Turnip Games may not possess the scores you see in your browser and may be unable to retrieve them.

Send a request to legal@tourn.app. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when required or permitted by law. You may also contact your local privacy regulator.

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information through the Service from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact legal@tourn.app so we can review and delete it when appropriate.

Turnip Games is based in the United States. Service providers may process request information in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we rely on recognized legal mechanisms for international transfers.

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to Kestrello, law, or our practices. We will post the revised Policy and update the effective date. Material changes apply prospectively.
